Marathon & Relays

Three athletes running a relay

With a revised route for 2017 the RB Hull Marathon & Relays will start in West Park with a stadium finish in the KCOM Stadium, home to football's Hull City AFC & rugby league's Hull FC.

The Marathon sees runners take a route through the City centre, Victoria Docks, into the East of the city and East Park, past RB, our principal sponsors, a return to the City centre and then the Marina before passing through a working dock, Pickering Park, Hessle, over the Humber Bridge and a return via the Costello Stadium and track, Peterpan Park and into the KCOM Stadium. All finishers will receive a medal, T-shirt and goody bag with ten drinks stations on route and massages available in our event village at the finish. Prizes for the first 5 finishers male and female, 1st and 2nd in all Vet categories from V40 to V80 (male and female) and to the first local male & female*.

- including the KCOM Ultrafast 100m

As runners come into Costello Athletics Stadium in mile 24, they'll not only be greeted by Fitmums & Friends' Race Angels, but they'll be able to have a go at the KCOM Ultrafast 100m on the track! A new, and we believe, unique feature for 2017, runners can have a go at testing themselves mentally and physically.

The fastest male and female times proportionate to their cumulative marathon time will win a cash prize thanks to KCOM. (Only open to full marathon runners)

We are once again hosting both the 2 person & 4 person relay races, with the assistance of Fitmums & Friends at the three change over points. Following the same route as the marathon, these present runners the chance to still be part of the atmosphere if a marathon is a challenger too far. Form a pair or a team from work, a community group or your running club. Run just to help improve your fitness, achieve a challenge, raising funds for one of our 5 charities or all of these!

Free transport will be provided to and from the three change over points for all runners, enabling your baggage to get to your finish point as well as early runners having the chance to see the later runners finish in the stadium and the later runners being able to see the start of the event. A timetable of the shuttle buses will be announced nearer to race day**.

2 Person Relay

Running a half marathon each, the first runner will set off behind the marathon start in West Park and get to run through the City Centre, Victoria Docks, East Park, and ABP Docks before changing over at the half way point as you enter Pickering Park.

The second leg runs through Pickering Park, Boothferry Road, Hessle before the out and back over the Humber Bridge, returning down Boothferry Road, three quarters of a lap of the Costello Stadium Athletics track, into Peterpan Park and gets all the glory as they finish inside the KCOM Stadium.

Both finishers will receive a medal, t-shirt and goody bag at their respective finish.

Free shuttle buses will transport runners to and from the change over point, with a drop off/pick up near to Pickering Park.

All this for £50 (entry by 30 April), or £55 thereafter and prizes for the first male pair, first female pair and first mixed pair.

4 Person Relay

Made up of 6, 7.1, 7.8 and 5.3 mile legs, the 4 person relay suits a range of abilities so everyone can get involved with each leg using the name of the City of Culture 4 seasons. Leg one (Made in Hull) sees runners start behind the marathon field in West Park and head through the City Centre, where Made in Hull took place in January 2017, past The Deep and through Victoria Docks before reaching the change over point in East Park.

Leg 2 (Roots & Routes) takes the runners through East Park, back to the City Centre, around the Marina and ABP Dock, Hessle Road, all of which have roots established and have lead to many routes in and out of the city. They will reach the changeover point at the marathon half way point as they enter Pickering Park.

Leg 3 (Freedom) gets to run through Pickering Park, up Boothferry Road, Hessle and the Freedom of the Humber Bridge as they cross on the bridge deck southbound and return on the northbound footpath. After returning through the toll plaza (for free!), the final changeover point is one the slip road into the Humber Bridge Car Park.

The 4th and final leg (Tell the World) is the shortest of them all. Heading around the town of Hessle, it then heads down Boothferry Road, round three quarters of a alp of the athletics track at the Costello Stadium, before the glory mile down Anlaby Road and the grand finish in the KCOM Stadium, where you can "Tell the World" of your team's achievements.

All 4 finishers will receive a medal, t-shirt and goody bag at their respective finish.

Free shuttle buses will transport runners to and from the change over points, with drop off/pick ups near to East Park, Pickering Park and the Humber Bridge Car Park.

All this for £60 (entry by 30 April), or £70 thereafter and prizes for the first all male team, first all female team and first mixed team (any combination).
