There is a wealth of races across the UK every weekend, and it's often hard to know what's best in the build up to a marathon,
especially if it's your first. Here at the RB Hull Marathon, we have teamed up with four local events we believe fit the bill.
Date: All Year
Fitmums love a challenge and couldn't resist the opportunity to get involved with what’s going on in their local community. Combining
these two passions with the City of Culture 2017, and supported by Springfield Solutions
they present the Fitmums and Friends 365 Challenge!
Supporting people living and working in Hull and East Yorkshire to be in the very best of health and achieve their full fitness
potential, the challenge is open to all; Costing £5, each participant will receive a medal upon completion, with all entry
fees going directly back to Fitmums and Friends to help support the work they do in local communities to help people
become more active.
So, what is the challenge?
The challenge for adults is to run, walk, cycle or buggy push 365 miles during 2017. Alternatively if swimming, exercise/dance classes,
team sports, dog walking are more your thing - then record these and aim to be as active as possible in line with recommendations
(30 minutes on at least 5 days in a week).
Physical activity guidelines for adults.
And children can get involved to by completing 365 periods of activity over the year; This could be anything, like walking,
scooting or cycling to school, PE lessons, sports clubs or even playing tig with friends, family walks, playing in the garden.
For each one mile, or 1 hour period of physical activity, colour in a mosaic tile on the activity chart (see link) and each
participant will receive a medal once they have completed their 365 challenge. Potentially rewarding you before you've run
the marathon! Got to Fitmums & Friends 365 Challenge for more details.
